Chargers Beat Raiders: Dishonorable Dis-Charge

Here are a few players that didn’t really perform to the standards we needed them to in last night’s game:

Ronnie Brown
Brown only had 5 carries in the game for 5 yards. Don’t you think you could run for a yard per carry? If you had to start him in your fantasy league, you probably are looking at a ‘L’ for week 1 and angry that you wasted a roster spot for him. The whole running game did not look pretty, but Norv already reached for Curtis Brinkley to try and carry the load for the team. Brinkley was much more involved in the game last night and could be who we turn to while Ryan Mathews sits out. Ryan Grant anyone?

Antonio Gates
Where is the lift? The ball clanked off of his hands in the end zone on a play Chargers fans are used to seeing him make? Does anyone ever know if Gates looks faster, slower, bigger or smaller? Any time I watch the game with someone, I hear, “Is Gates bigger/slower/smaller/faster?” Let’s just call him decptively fat/fast. Next time he needs to bring that ball in for a touchdown. We can’t afford to miss opportunities like that against a good team. Luckily, we played the Raiders though and got away with it.

Jared Gaither
Could this be the last time I throw a shot at Jared Gaither? Probably not even close! Mike Harris stepped up and did a good job on the left side and made us not even think about the Big Lazy for one day. I still am waiting to see the Big Dollar on the practice field.

Who else didn’t hit the mark last night?

Gaither needs to pay Harris. Mike is a man! He took all the grief from pre-season and got down to business last night

most definitely… needs to give the kid a cut as long as he is sitting on the bench.

I think they should move Harris to RT when Gaither comes back.

But I look forward to see who’ll get the 53rd roster spot during this week, Harris proved himself capable of starting until Gaither comes back.
The CB-group also looked sharp and Weddle shoved, that he could play the nickel in the end of the game with two other safeties deep.

Who do you guys think we should pick up?

i think we need to go after Chad Clifton… need a tackle for depth on the roster. don’t know if/when Gather is going to make it back

      • Bane

It sure would be nice to get an update on the injury. But I think we’ll be able to tell when we know who they’ll pick up.

also wouldnt mind going after another corner. Weddle did well in the slot, but Corey Harris lucked out a couple of times while playing safety

The pass rush didn’t exactly make me forget Merriman.

With a few exceptions, I thought Norv actually had the team looking pretty crisp.

  • Jordan Denning

Marcus Gilchrist…on Defense. I think he was playing corner? Too many times the receiver he was covering caught the ball

Yeah I agree against a good team we won´t get away with missed catches like those from Gates.
But I was really really impressed with Mike Harris, he really stepped up. To be honest I thought he won´t make it. Lets hope he can do that vs. Titans again (…& where´s Gaither…?). Bolt Up!
