Chargers at Raiders: Chargers on Offense

Here are a couple of keys for the San Diego Chargers offense tonight against the Oakland Raiders:

NO TURNOVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can there be enough emphasis put on this?? This one if for you Philip! We have to win the turnover battle and need to learn how to protect the football. It seems that we forgot how to do that the last couple of seasons. Our runningbacks put the ball on the ground and our quarterback throws the ball to the other team. A huge emphasis needs to be put on this.

Score early
Put some points on the board early and try to get Darren McFadden and the Oakland crowd out of the game as soon as possible.

More Antonio Gates
He is supposed to be faster and skinnier this season. Show us what he’s working with. The Oakland Raiders do not have an answer for him and he needs to get targeted all day long.

Oakland corners
Quick, name one Oakland Raiders cornerback. Nnamdi Asomugha is long gone and there are a couple of guys we never heard of before playing out at corner.

Make us forget who Jared Gaither is
Keep Philip Rivers standing. Put up a lot of points and we will forget who Jared Gaither is.

There a few of things that the offense cannot do: throw the long pass, offset counter tackle block and properly protect quarterback’s blind side. With that being said, what the can, and will do, is the short pass play, running inside the guards and outside of tackles while use the presnap motion quite frequently.

I cannot insist more that the team uses two tight end sets frequently with McMichael motioning to the overload defense in order to block/protect to whomever is coming, keep it simple (three and five step drops) and mix it up with the running game, even though Mathews is out, Brown et. al. are more thab capable to get the job decenty done.

As for my prediction, Chargers on top of the Raiders by ten points.
