The back problems continue to linger for San Diego Chargers left tackle Jared Gaither, who has been ruled out of the team’s season opener Sept. 10 against the Oakland Raiders.

SAN DIEGO —- Chargers linebacker Larry English was supposed to be the heir apparent to Shawne Merriman.

The team got down to the NFL mandated 53-man maximum on Friday evening, but the roster they announced on Friday won’t be what they play with on Sept. 10 against the Oakland Raiders.
