Football Food Friday

Ok, enough with my typical girly healthy food.  I know you have been waiting for the football food staple that you cannot live without.  Chicken wings.  Yes, I said chicken wings.  Spicy, sauce dripping, messy wings.  Okay, I haven’t fallen completely off the the wagon, this is a baked recipe, but you will still devour these and feel a little less guilty while doing it.

Recipe:  Easy Baked Chicken Wings

What you need: 1 cup of your favorite picante sauce, 1/4 cup honey, 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger, 12 chicken wings (tips removed) and a bunch of celery.

What you do:   In a big bowl stir the picante, honey and ginger together.   Rinse the wings really well, then cut them in half at the joints to make 24 pieces. Toss the wing halves into the sauce mix and keep tossing until well coated.  Tip:  If the sauce seems thick add more picante sauce.

Next, line a baking pan with foil and place the chicken in the pan.   Bake at 400 degrees for 55 minutes or until  glazed and cooked through, turning and brushing often with the sauce during the last 30 minutes of baking time.  Tip:  Flip and sauce 3-4 times during last half hour.  Rinse the celery well, chop off the leafy top and white bottom before cutting stalks into three pieces.  Tip:  Eating celery with spicy foods keeps away heartburn.

Enjoy with your favorite bleu cheese or ranch dressing with the celery on the side and don’t forget to boltup!
