Cut Day: Chargers Release DE Jacques Cesaire, FB Jacob Hester

It is cut day around the NFL. The Chargers have to trim the roster to 53 players by 6pm tonight. We should start hearing some rumblings much sooner than that and Bolt Beat will be keeping an eye on the situation. We will update you on this post when we start hearing things happen.

And the names are starting to leak out. Here are the first couple of players that were released:

LT Anthony Davis
LT Mario Henderson
DE Jacques Cesaire – that is definitely one of the toughest cuts. Could mean that Aubrayo Franklin made the roster.
LB Bront Bird
C Colin Baxter
FB Jacob Hester
Edwin Baker
Charlie Bryant
Ricky Elmore
Darryl Gamble
Greg Gatson
Logan Harrell
Arthur Hobbs
Jarrett Lee
Robert Malone
DeAndre Presley
Damik Scafe
Steve Schilling
Kory Sperry
Mike Willie.

check out the latest post… i found an awesome pic of him, but he was still wearing a nike jersey at that time. I guess he had on a Nike jersey, then it got ripped and he had to put on an older jersey. the older jersey was the reebok one

dude if u go to the packers website and look at the highlight that says Jarrett Boykin reels in 12 yard TD at the end of the video when the next video is loading there is a still shot and u can see the Reebok blacked out with marker lol

Wish Willie and/or Baker could have gotten a spot. And would have been wise to have another QB. Many teams are carrying 3 QBs. But nooo, not the Chargers. Is everyone happy with the roster?

We should have kept Lee. He has talent and I’m sure he was cheap. Not to mention, we all know how delicate clipboard Charlie is. Dammit, I want three QB’s!

So do Lee and Willie survive the night to make it on our practice squad or are they gone?

      They’re gone.

Besides Cesaire I´m a little bit shocked that they really cut Hester…And what would have been if this “touchdown” by Willie would have been ruled so on the field? Would he still be a Charger?…

Cesaire and Byrd have been playing top quality football in the preseason, QB Lee looked excellent in the preseason as he gets the read and delivers the ball like Elway use to and Embree and Willee showed they can hang on to the ball. Elmore and Gamble are great prospects and yet Turner and Smith have evaluated this team and let alot of the better players in the preseason go. If they had their minds made up in the preseason why play the 1st squad or 2nd. Look at the stats and you’ll see that they were ignored. Byrd excelled in the special teams and was always around the ball on defense. Talent is fantastic but football intelligence is the best talent in the game. Our ownership and management team is clueless. Booga has all the answers for this team and i’m betting this team will struggle on the O-line ( oh but we needed better defensive players!). Rivers will spend alot of time picking himself off the turf. Lee learned quickly his oline’s problems and unloaded passes to short routes quickly. But Turner is a power run between the tackles and stretch the field guy. ALERT!!! You have to have a great line to have that strategy. This promising preseason was blown up by egos of Turner and mostly Smith who won’t be denied his pick. Byrd out played English totally and doesn’t get hurt near as often. Cesaire has been our best DE/DT to pressure the QB either starting or coming off the bench. Take it from a novice, this O-line and a secoundery that is beat up playing in meaningless preseason games are going to lead the Chargers to more of the same 2 years we’ve seen. Cogradulations goes out to Spanos and his backers.

I feel like we already released Hester. He has never performed like I would expect. As far as Lee goes, I was expecting it, but I like him, he should find a new spot easily. Very sad to see Cesaire go.
