Predicting the Chargers Final 53 Man Roster

Quarterbacks (2)
Philip Rivers, Charlie Whitehurst
Sorry Jarret Lee fans, just don’t see them keeping a rookie over Whitehurst

Runningbacks (5)
Ryan Mathews, Ronnie Brown, Jackie Battle, LeRon McClain, Jacob Hester
Tough call between Battle and Curtis Brinkley. Hoping that the Saints cut Chris Ivory and we go after him to take that spot on the roster instead.

Wide Receivers (6)
Malcom Floyd, Robert Meachem, Eddie Royal, Vincent Brown, Micheal Spurlock, Mike Willie
New IR rule needs Brown to be on the roster till the 4th and cut day is tomorrow. Have to keep him on the 53 for now.

Tight Ends (3)
Antonio Gates, Randy McMichael, Dante Rosario
Seems that the team is going to try and sneak Ladarius Green onto the practice squad like they did with Jordan Todman last year. Maybe they pick him back up when they move Brown onto the IR.

Offensive Lineman (9)
Nick Hardwick, David Molk, Tyronne Green, Rex Hadnot, Louis Vazquez, Jeromey Clary,  Jared Gaither, Mike Harris, Anthony Davis
With the uncertainty of Gaither, the team is forced to keep Anthony Davis on the roster to play tackle.

Defensive Lineman (6)
Antonio Garay, Cam Thomas, Aubrayo Franklin, Corey Liuget, Vaughn Martin, Kendall Reyes
Going to be a sad day when Jacques Cesaire does not make the squad

Linebackers (10)
Shaun Phillips, Takeo Spikes, Donald Butler, Jarret Johnson, Melvin Ingram, Antwan Barnes, Larry English, Jonas Mouton, Demorrio Williams, Andrew Gachkar
Gachkar keeps his spot on the roster for being a stud on special teams

Cornerbacks (4)
Quentin Jammer, Antoine Cason, Marcus Gilchrist, Shareece Wright
Would love to keep DeAndre Presley, but think he gets on practice squad instead. Team will search waivers to add a veteran to this group.

Safeties (5)
Eric Weddle, Atari Bigby, Brandon Taylor, Darrell Stucky, Corey Lynch
Lynch stays until we can add a vet to the group

Special Teams (3)
Nate Kaeding, Mike Scifres, Mike Windt
Novak will catch on with another team.

good list- great group. : )

I agree but, i think it will be a stupid move trying to put Ladarius Green on the PS. He will probably be claimed….im afraid. BOLT UP!!!

    • #TheBoltFather

Although it is likely that Green won’t be on the 53, I agree that if he is placed on the PS he is gone in a hurry.
I truly hope he gets the time to develop….WITH the Bolts!

Despite what some think, this season I don’t think is going to be all that magic, look for more of the same. Lee should be QBing as his release and read is faster than Charlies, I like Whitehurst but without a good O-line he’s 3rd QB at best. Pagano has looked to apply pressure this preseason but Turner has looked his same old self. I can’t get past how great it is to have a owner that snubbed Seau and sent him packing, and really had no relationship with him after. But sticks by a GM and Coach that he thought could change colors. It doesn’t happen, Turner is fatfree milk, safe and won’t approach a game with a dominating offense. If the O-line was his responsibility he should have demanded it from Smith. Insted we changed DC’s again and that was a great choice, we had the defensive players. We have so many DT/DE’s that we’d have to have a epidemic to lose them all. But on our Oline we have a C+ for players on the 1st squad. Our backups are from the F league. But no movement for us there. I say we should have approached the off season looking for free agents for our O-line. We lost 3 veterans and didn’t add one. Rivers will spend the season running around buying time, they’ll rush Mathews back and he’ll be injured off and on for the season. But then who am I to have such a bad oppinion.
