Who Has The Edge Now: Curtis Brinkley or Jackie Battle?

Stats from Dallas Game:

Curtis Brinkley: 4 carries, 4 yards
Jackie Battle: 4 carries, 10 yards, 1 TD

Both Battle and Brinkley were unimpressive on Saturday against the Dallas Cowboys. Neither player stepped up to take the lead for the 3rd running back spot on the roster. Does anyone want it?

The fans are begging to see someone emerge from the group. Fans are already scanning the free agency list and trying to figure out who is available. AND yes, Ryan Grant does seem like a decent option to at least compete for a spot on the roster. it probably won’t happen, but another poor performance on Friday could definitely make some things move.

After the Dallas game, who should get that last running back spot? Should we look outside?

more carries will allow us to see our running backs get in a rhythm- 4 totes just don’t cut it. i’m hoping norv gives them each a few drives at least against the vikes. team brinkley for now. : )

If they were able to average more than a yard, they might have gotten longer drives to get those carries… the whole offense was frustrating to watch though.

well, ronnie brown’s first 4 carries gave him 9 yards and 0 tds- and he’ll be our starter when mathews can’t go… 1st team offense definitely struggled, but i am encouraged that preseason is a time to work out kinks. : )

Our starting offense SUCK! Rivers is starting to look like sh*t, and not having a left tackle is no longer an excuse. I feel as if Clipboard had a better handle of the game, and made better choices. Our team is no longer a Hailmary team, Jackson is gone and Brown is injured. Floyd is good but not dependable. We need to focus on the short game, we move better and more fluently. Also that will allow Rivers to pass the ball without feeling the pressure. If I was the owner of the team I will pull a Money Ball move and make the starters work for their spots again!

It KILLS me to say this, but I would go with Battle. He is a proven backup, with more carries / experience. They both look relatively the same. So, I would have to go with the guy who got carries for most of a season. Boonah is such a feelgood story, but I am just not seeing it translate onto the field this preseason. I hope that changes. Needless to say, I agree with Ern… running game looks awful right now. Baker looked auight at the end, but not against starters. 1st string looked luke-warm… Just keep Gates & Floyd off the field, please?!!! Meach and Royal & Brown need to carry pre-season.. with a little Spurlock mixed in. GO SHAREECE!!!

I agree. There are still pre-season games left for either of these guys to step up. Sometimes, things don’t get rolling until late.
