Chargers vs Cowboys: Ups and Downs

UPS

Shareece Wright – He did nothing last season, but he is making NOISE this preseason. He was a big time playmaker on the defense. He had an interception and forced a fumble after sacking the quarterback.

Melvin Ingram – He didn’t get to start the game with Jarret Johnson back in the lineup, but you know when he is in the game. He gets pressure on the quarterbacks and he notched his first sack of the preseason. He could be pushing for first team action soon.

Charlie Whitehurst – The clipboard came in and moved the offense down the field and put points on the board. The first team offense stalled out, but Charlie made good things happen.

DOWNS

First team offense – Philip Rivers could not move the ball down the field and he added two interceptions to his preseason total. He now has 3 interceptions in 3 quarters of play. The running game without Ryan Mathews is a concern.

Mike Harris – Harris did not have to play against DeMarcus Ware, but that was a good thing for Philip Rivers. Harris may be a bright spot on the roster, but he still has a lot to learn. He was beaten a few times on the left side of the line.

Vincent Brown – That ankle injury will be talked about for a while. He was going to be a big key on offense.

Pass Rush – Tony Romo was able to sit back all day and his jersey was clean at the end of the day. I don’t know how long fans will wait to see Melvin Ingram out on the field.

    any word on Jammer?

He is fine… he came back to play later in the game.. probably my just got the wind knocked out of him

2nd INT was not Rivers fault.. Was Brown receiver on that play? Pass was where it needed to be, mishandled by the receiver. With that said i can see that Rivers is not happy with himself, no excuse for under throughing Meachem on that home run he had over the top. Still i think he will right the ship before the regular season and have a big year, might not see our passing game come into full force until week 3 or 4 though

It was Brown on that play… the scary part about not seeing the passing game get into full force till week 3 or 4 is that Ryan Mathews will be out. that is the passing game and the running game struggling at the same time.

It really is scary! But i figure if we can go 2-2 through the first 4 games it will be a success, i still remain confident that this team will catch fire mid way through the season and it will continue into the play offs and hopefully the SuperBowl. But its looking like its going to take a little time to fit all of our new pieces into the puzzle. And what else can we expect really? how often do you see a large group of FA join a new team and immediately pick up the system and gel with the tenured players on the team?
