“Antonio Gates is going to be the best tight end in the NFL this year”

Move over Gronk. Move over Jimmy Graham. Antonio Gates is back with a vengeance this year. He is skinnier, faster and back to his old freakish ways! Eric Weddle already expects him to be the best in the league this year:

“He’s going to be the best tight end in the NFL this year,” San Diego Pro Bowl safety Eric Weddle said Thursday. “The best. You can’t guard him … I know there are a lot good tight ends coming up in the league, but Antonio is the best. He looks that good. He hasn’t looked this good since my rookie season.” – ESPN

Gates made good things happen on one foot last season. This year he had a bionic foot put in place OR his busted foot is actually healed up and ready to tear up the rest of the NFL.

Our passing game needs a little boost with Vincent Jackson gone and “skinny, fast” Antonio Gates would provide the spark. If he has his mojo back, then the offense should be lighting up the scoreboard.
