Kevin O’Connell Signs One-Month Deal With Chargers

The Chargers officially inked QB Kevin O’Connell to a ONE-YEAR deal today. He is likely going to be released at the end of training camp, since Charlie Whitehurst is expected to be the backup quarterback when he returns from injury.

Wonder if the Chargers went through VOLT to pickup O’Connell for the temporary assignment?

Hopefully O’Connell kills it in the preseason so that he can give the Clipboard some competition. He will be in attendance tomorrow when the Chargers resume practice.

Why don’t the Chargers keep him? I mean, with the new CBA, a third string QB can be activitated during a game without the so called rule of the emergency quarterback, therefore, can be used in special teams, red zone situations or whatever. I think it’s a pretty good sign and to us Chargers-Aztecs fans we like it. By the way, does anyone know how Ryan Lindley is doing?

we might need to use that roster spot for another tight end or linebacker or something like that. the last couple of seasons, we only had 2 QBs on the roster.

We need to keep the Aztec. I mean, he’s an Aztec! And he will light up the Q if he needs to. I really don’t trust Clipboard Jesus is ready if called. We need someone with a chip on his shoulder if PR needs to come out.
