Jacques Cesaire is a mentor to the younger guys on the roster. He has been working on his craft for a long time, so he has a lot of wisdom that to pass on to the youngens. He started out in the league as an undrafted free agent and has turned that into a solid career.

He has been in the league for 9 seasons and has been the starter for a few of those years. He has a total of 218 tackles and 12.5 sacks over his career.

After the recent addition of NT Aubrayo Franklin, Cesaire finds himself battling to keep a spot on the roster. The youngsters that he mentored (Corey Liuget, Vaughn Martin, Kendall Reyes and Cam Thomas) are assured a spot on the roster, while he will have to battle it out with Franklin and Antonio Garay. Garay offers the versatility to play on the nose and either end position, while Franklin was brought in to plug up the middle.

Who will survive the camp battle at defensive line? Jacques Cesaire could find himself on the outside looking in.

As DE’s go Cesaire is so underated it’s hard to believe this heading. He’s been the one to bailout the Chargers time and again when it looked like they were down to their last hope and out played the bunch! but then sometimes Smith is out to lunch. With the QB issue and others it’s being proven again that Smith knows his cake but doesn’t have a clue about icing.
