Morning Dump

The San Diego Chargers ranked 16th in PFT’s preseason power poll, due largely to the fact that we’ve grown tired of their perennially underachieving act. It seems like every year the Chargers are a popular Super Bowl pick, and it never fails that they come up short.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – The Chargers announced Tuesday that fans will be able to vote for the next inductee into the team’s Hall of Fame for the first time.

Folks covering the team were convinced late last season that coach Norv Turner and G.M. A.J. Smith were on the outs in San Diego. After a 4-1 start, the Chargers dropped six straight games in October and November. While they closed strong with victories in four of their final five, owner Dean Spanos’ January 3 announcement that Turner and Smith would be retained was something of a stunner.

Great pic Ernie, Bennett was a bad-ass he really was a tough punter and someone Scifres can look up to. If Bennett was playing 2 tears ago when are special teams was so great, I think he would have hurt a few of those runbacks in a vicious style. He’s one of my favorites during those years and a punter doesn’t get all that much publicity. One word comes to mind “Clothesline”. Miller was also a fan favorite but in another era with better QB play he could have been a Hines Ward type.
