I think this is a great topic!

There aren't any easy answers We all have a limited amount of time to live our lives. We have X number of years to fulfill our destinies. We want to make our mark doing something we love, of course.

Some guys live for their love of the game and see themselves as that football hero. It IS their life, and only their families mean more -- and they never would let them down by being less. They identify themselves as a football player, and for many, it'sall they ever really wanted to be. For those guys, It's probably worth the risk.

For others, guys that played football, but see that as just a part of who they are, it may not be worth it to continue on after muliple concussions.

Had I taken a different path, I would have pursued college and pro ball. At that time, people were just learning about the permanent pain that retired players have. The concussions were barely known. I think I would have played because the risk would have never been enough to make me not want the reward.
