COMMENTARY | When one of the most humble players in the recent NFL history says that he’d rather be inducted into the Hall of Fame than win a Super Bowl, it’s not ironic — it’s honest.

For the first time in his ESPN career, Chris Berman will call an NFL game as a play-by-play man, the network announced Wednesday.

LaDainian Tomlinson went off-script this week. He told an interviewer from the NBC Sports Network that he would rather be a Hall of Fame player without a championship ring than a player with a title but no Canton bust.

Once again this season, ESPN will feature a pair of games during the Monday Night Football opener. And ESPN has announced that Chris Berman and Trent Dilfer will be in the booth for the late game between the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders.
