Bringing Up Old Stuff: Drew Brees or Philip Rivers?

Bringing up old stuff: If you had your choice TODAY between the two quarterbacks, would you want Drew Brees or Philip Rivers?

Since Drew has left the Chargers, he has led his team to the Super Bowl and has led one of the few offenses that is more prolific than ours. He is mobile in the pocket and buys more time for his receivers to get open down the field. He is easily one of the best in the game.

Philip is one of the toughest son-of-a-guns to play quarterback and can throw the deep ball as good as anyone. He is a vocal leader (trash talker) and is respected in the locker room. He is one of the hardest working players in the game.

This should be an interesting vote. Would you rather have the current Chargers QB or the former?

I’m not even going to dignify this with an answer

    • epadaon

@BReisinger86 does that mean your answer is…..

      • BReisinger86

@epadaon I make a point of everything in life to look forward not back, This is not any different.

        • BReisinger86

@epadaon Time dose not stop while you are looking back, so essentially what you are doing is waling backwards…. and that’s a trip hazard. no one likes falling flat on there ass

        • epadaon

@BReisinger86 hahaha… BUT, you must look to the past to make sure you don’t make the same mistake in the future.

I’m staying home on this one! Rivers!! Do I really have to defend this answer!?

    • epadaon

@davie726 i guess not since 85% of people agree with you

  • Borderdoc

I for one will stick with Rivers until he proves me wrong.

Ernie, Ernie, Ernie…you just like to stir up the pot don’t you?!! LOL You know what they say, hindsight is always 20/20. Let me clear up what some people may not know. After the 2004 season, Brees became a free agent and the Chargers assigned him a “franchise tag”. After holding out 2005 training camp, he eventually played the season and in the last game we all know what happened. In 2006, word has it that Marty Schotteimer wanted to keep Brees but A.J. Smith was willing to let Brees walk. Eventually Brees was offered a low ball contract which Brees turned down, viewing the contract as a sign of “no confidence”. The shoulder injury he sustained (torn labrum) most athletes don’t come back from. That’s why only two teams, Dolphins and the Saints were interested in him. Eventually, the Dolphins team doctor told team officials it would not be a wise decision to sign him, so they ended negotiations. The rest is history. With the type of injury Brees sustained, the Chargers did the right thing by letting him go. The chances of him recovering his passing abilities were very slim. He beat the odds though. I’m happy with Rivers and have no regrets whatsoever.

@RMainwaring hahahahaha… always gotta stir that pot every now and then. pretty amazing how overwhelming the vote was for Rivers! We made the right choice at the time… but you didnt answer the question :)

  • Enrique Salcedo

Rivers. At least the chargers weren’t busted for bounty hunting.

  • Mike Barbee

Still Phillip Rivers, but AJ should have tried to get some draft picks. Same with Michael Turner, Sproles, Kasim Osgood and VJax. Bleeding talent. Coulda garnered draft picks.

  • Jose Iniguez

Apples n oranges… Just win dammit!!… Its freakin head office and their shitty biz moves! U have to buy n keep winners!

I like Brees, it’s cool he’s been a Charger. But Rivers is our guy, he’s a Charger through & through. We can be so happy this man is our QB. He may not be physically the fastest, but he definitely is a man for big plays – and he can make every WR look better than he actually is. Rivers’ the man, enough said.

  • russ51

What are ya’ll smoking, and can  I have some?
Brees is a hall of fame guy, Rivers is just a footnote.

  • pels04

Brees is a beast but i still got to go with Rivers. If they were the same age instead of 3 yrs apart  i would have to go Brees only because hes more mobile. 3 years difference in age could mean he has 3 more chances to win a SB

  • MikeTuck

Not even worth voting on. No GM would want to be in that predictament, it was a no win one. Brees just as easily could have not been the same after the injury. Brees should have never made that play. I like his enthusiasm but it wasn’t a smart play at the time. Rivers is a hell of a competitor and we haven’t seen his best. Brees got hammered in his first couple years until Hudson hauck fixed the Oline. Fix it for Rivers and then decide, still it’s a impossible financial decision.
