@Ernie; Honestly Ernie I have such mixed feelings about this but Tomlinson was a great competitor and a great person that I loved that the Chargers got him and he had a good career. Note that 4 out of the 9 seasons he played he carried for under 4 yrds a run. And when it was really crunch time he let up. I can't say anything possitive about his injurys but I seen alot of players gut it out when the teams needs were on the line in the post season. And the way he sat by himself sulking all the time. A great player is up cheering on his teamates. LaDainian had these flaws, his TD record won't be broken for quite some time. But given the chance Mathews can break that record and will have more yards per carry throughout his career if given the chance to become the workhorse of the team. He'll also have a Superbowl ring that he will help earn in the game. Mathews fumbling has been overblown for what it is. He is more powerfull and will break runs just like LaDainian. All this being said if Brown or our other backups go down I'd love the Chargers to bring him back and he plays behind Mathews to win a Superbowl. This would be deserving and make up for the flaws he had. It would be a humbling and yet spectacular feat for him and he'd go out a better man for it. In any case I loved the guy and don't have anything against him at all. I just feel his place in football history is alittle overblown as Alexander and Holmes were also great at the time. Thurman Thomas was a better back but LaDainian was ours and that is why he's so special.
