If you were in a cave over the weekend, the Chargers are set to sign Ladainian Tomlinson to a 1-day contract so that he can retire as a San Diego Charger. After all the petty bickering that went around after his departure, it is awesome to see that the two sides could come to an agreement to honor one of San Diego’s greatest.
There is expected to be a press conference today at 11am at Charger Park for the retirement. It is not open to the public, but can be seen on Chargers.com.
Tomlinson was one of the greatest on the planet and should be in the Hall of Fame as soon as he becomes eligible. We will all be waiting for that Hall of Fame speech, when that time comes around.
As fans, he had us all pumped up as soon as he stepped onto the field. Once he got the ball in his hand, we would be on the edge of your seat because we knew that he would break off a huge run soon. Teams feared him and he still kept finding ways to break off big time runs. He was elusive, had ridiculous balance and had a nose for the end zone.
I wish that players like this could play forever, but sadly we have to turn the page onto a new chapter.
