Chargers Weekly Rewind

Over this last week, the Chargers signed 3 players to the roster. S Corey Lynch, OT Phil Trautwein and P Robert Malone have joined the team out at OTAs. Lynch played under special teams coach Rich Bisaccia in Tampa and could earn a job on special teams with the team. The other guys will likely just be camp bodies.

We also learned about this kid Brian Banks that was wrongfully accused of rape and had to serve 5 years in jail for NOTHING. He used to be a star linebacker in high school before he got locked up and now he is hoping to catch on with an NFL team. The Chargers contacted him but did not invite him out for a try-out.

The Chargers also look like they will be waiting to add a veteran runningback onto the roster. The youngsters have been impressive during OTAs and they are gaining the confidence of the coaches. Curtis Brinkley, Michael Hayes and Edwin Baker will be battling in out throughout camp to make the roster.

We should at least look at that banks kid because spikes is old & if he does turn out to be good then that’s something next draft we don’t have to worry about

Agreed. The guy deserves a shot at makin it. I hope it’s with us.

Also agreed that he has lost a TON of time….wrongfully…… Can’t imagine. His last playing experience was at the HS level so it will be extremely difficult for sure.  Spikes would be the perfect mentor, imo.

But, I can’t say how stoked I am to see Mouton in action this year!!

Maybe instead of veteran RB, we should look for a CB. I like the RBs we have in OTAs. Brinkley know the system and Hayes is impressive with his receiving ability. I’m not sure about Banks. Being away from football for 5yrs. is too long to catch up.
