Top 10 Chargers of 2011: #7 Jared Gaither

The NFL Network is releasing their Top 100 players of 2012 and there just is not enough Chargers action on that list, so the staff at Bolt Beat got together to create a Top 10 Chargers list based off of their performances from last season.

7) Jared Gaither

The BIG LAZY came onto the scene right when the Chargers were in the midst of a landslide from HELL. Marcus McNeill had gone down with a neck injury and Brandyn Dombrowski was useless as his replacement. Philip Rivers was running for his life as soon as he took the snap (if he could get the snap). The fans were ready to KILL Norval and they were calling for his head.

Enter Jared Gaither.

Gaither is a monster of a man that couldn’t stick in Kansas City and he was just hoping to find a job. Our offensive line was in such shambles, that we needed to throw him into the starting lineup immediately.

After suffering through a 6 game losing streak, Gaither entered the mix and we had to hope that something good would happen. With Gaither protecting up front, the offense topped 30 points in 4 of the 5 games. The offense only scored over 30 points once before Gaither arrived onto the roster. We won 4 of those final 5 games also and gave ourselves some hope for the playoffs near the end of the season. A lot of things went right toward the end of the season and coincidentally, that is when the Big Lazy joined the team.
