Hello...A.J....Are You There?

Compared to past drafts, I have to say that this is one of our best.

I think A.J. Smith finally got his head out of his you-know-what and got to work.

Even his free agency signings have been out of character for him.

I can’t believe that Smith is done though.

So all in all I am happy with what Smith has done…..so far.

But year after year it seems that Smith likes to sit on his hands while good players sign with other teams.

I think he needs to get a few more players.

While I think that Marcus Gilchrist and Shareece Wright will eventually become good players, we need more depth at the cornerback position.

And what about another quarterback. Is he happy with Charlie Whitehurst as our only backup?

There are other positions that need depth too.

Is Smith gonna make any more moves in free agency or is he happy with what he has?

It just leaves me scratching my head.

Off topic, but i gotta say this.. Just got done watching NFL top 100 60-51 and I’m starting to get weary that Weddle will not be on this list!! And if thats the case I’m canceling NFL network

@BrandonReisinger Pls don’t lose sleep over it.  The Chargers are just going to have to prove that they’re a contender and that they have good players.

@BrandonReisinger that sucks… i havent seen it yet, but they like to screw with the Chargers on this

    • A_Eme_O_Ere

@BrandonReisinger Darren McFadden is rated higher than Philip Rivers?!?  The list is a joke, doesn’t matter that the players made these picks.

    • RMainwaring

@BrandonReisinger I think he’ll be in there somewhere.

dont worry brandon…. he was a 1st team pro bowler. @BrandonReisinger

I agree with Randy, we definitely need depth at CB. Marcus had some shaky moments and Shareece didn’t play at all. I would had prefer Volek but I’m good with Charlie.Definitely our best draft and hopefully AJ make more moves in FA. #BOLTUP!

wait till June 1… that’s when a few more vets might be put on the wire because their cap wont hurt this season.. that is where the wait is right now for every team.

    • BoogaP

Good point. It will be interesteing to see what vets are released once teams get a better feel for the young talent that they have brought in via the draft.

  • Chargertom

He needs to bring back L.T.

AJ isn’t quite out of the woods with me yet… It’s not like he can kick his feet up, and relax, now that the draft is over (no matter how good it went). The GM position is more than just getting good players. It requires having a winning presence, that is felt on the field by your players during practices, at training camp, and during the season.
This team underacheived immensely last year, due to a lack of good coaching & management, and poor conditioning. So, there is still a sense of urgency to get depth at O-Line, and at the CB position. I would put those areas above getting a back up running back, at this point. Our running game has had minor issues in the past… where as our O-Line getting decimated, and our CB’s getting torched regularly cost us the season.. and the playoffs.

@RMainwaring  Couldn’t have said it better randy. I think Florence would have helped more than hurt. I expect gilchrist to be outstanding this year. We’ll see if wright can help in the nichol but I’m not to sure about him. I’m not a big AJ fan but he set up this team rather well with the exception of getting into the free agent market for some help on the O-line especially someone to take Clarys spot. I’m not sold on our line but I hope they come together for what could be one of the greatest years Charger fans have seen.

Like Ernie said, we’ll have to see after June 1st what else Smith does. It just drives me nuts that year after year he stalls meanwhile all the good players fall off the market.
