Is Antonio Gates Really Back To Full Strength?

There are a lot of reports that Antonio Gates is back to full strength! f he is back to full strength, this is going to be HUGE for Philip Rivers and the offense since Vincent Jackson bucked his way out to Tampa. It is not that long ago that Gates was tearing up opposing secondaries by scoring touchdown after touchdown, while making big grabs on critical third downs. He was impossible to cover on the field with his speed and size by the secondary. He will be one year older and could be a little slower, but he is one smart football player and knows how to read the defense. He has a great chemistry with Philip and he can make some great things happen on the football field.

Could he really be back to full strength?!

Last season, he was basically a weekend warrior. He missed all kinds of practices during the week and was just healthy enough to suit up for games on Sunday. He still had a pretty good season under those conditions. If he is back to full strength, Philip won’t have to try and force the ball to other receivers and could cut down on those turnovers. Mr. Reliable will be back ready to make things happen.

Do you think that Gates is ready to be the impact player he once was?

Well in the name of the BoltNation I hope he is back with 100%. But of course he ain´t gettin´ younger and coming back from an injury is never easy. But he is one of the great highlights in this league and sure for the Chargers, he is as important as cold mineral water or coke is for a dude with a hangover. Now with Vincent Jackson gone, Gates is the only “killer” from the “old” days to which Rivers can rely on. Solely his presence on the field will be more important as it was ever before. And if he is e.g. only 90% the Gates he was 2-3 years ago, he is still better than most other TE in the league. Gates – we look forward to see you leading that Chargers train into Super Bowl. YESSS!!! GO BOLTS!!!

       Ditto!!

We can only hope he’s healthy and in the shape to take another beating all season long if Philip keeps on throwing the ball to him. On an unrelated note, that Bills jersey looks awesome.

Even injured Gates was better than most other TEs last season, having a full offseason is going to help the recovery process greatly! He will have another probowl season with 70 receptions and 15 TDs!

Look out NFL, if Gates is truly healthy, despite being older, he could reclaim his spot as the Top TE in the NFL! I still think he is the best TE.  Just needs some luck as far as injuries are concerned.

It looks as thought he lost a few lbs too. With Gates healthy and Ladarius Green coming in, look out! I would love to see Norval install a doulble tight end set like Belichick has done in New England.

I believe he’s 100% healthy. Getting older and maybe a bit slower but still an impact on the field. He’s Mr. Touchdown in the red zone and always exploits the zone.

  • Chargertom

I hope so for his sake! Even at 50% he’s a beast! 100% look out!

  • Bleu

Our season depends on him in alot of ways he is the coldest threat in the redzone.
