Trustees of Seau’s estate say they made the decision to close Seau’s The Restaurant in Mission Valley on Wednesday.

SAN DIEGO —- The first offseason can be a stressful one for NFL rookies. They spend countless hours learning a new scheme, working out with veterans and learning how to be a professional football player.

Fifth in the NFL in points scored. Sixth in yards per game. Third in first downs and average time of possession. No offense scored more points to begin the second half, and as a franchise, they’ve never been better on third down since the stat began being tracked in 1991.

An unidentified woman called police Wednesday after seeing a bicycle that matched the description of the one that was stolen from Seau’s garage on May 7, said Oceanside police Lt. Leonard Mata.

To thrive in college or the NFL or any business, for that matter, he said it takes a higher source for motivation, something greater than the game. Royal’s reason — his “why” — hit the mark with at least one family involved in a local All-Star football game.
