Chargers Rookie Mini Camp Began Today. All Eyes On Melvin

Shot of Ingram in his 54 jersey... via @sharonheilbrunn

Rookie Training Camp is starting today and all the fans will want to know how Melvin Ingram did. Based off of the reports from the media, he is a standout on the field. He still is only facing up against a bunch of other rookies and undrafted free agents, but he is at a different level.

Ingram was seen consistently getting into the backfield against the other players (Christopher Smith). We are going to need a lot of that from him when the season starts!

Michael Gehlken said that it was strange to see the number 54 moving that fast on the field. Stephen Cooper held the number 54 for the last nine seasons and he never was known for his speed. Hopefully Ingram will have the smarts that Coop displayed.

We will have to see how he fairs once they start to face off against the veterans on the team. Watching Ingram and Jared Gaither battle up front would be intriguing.

Can the season start already?

  • Chargersfan4life

    Brandon Taylor is not there.

    • Bleu

@Chargersfan4life man whats up with Brandon Taylor I’m kind of nervous is he hurt did he not make the cut what the hell is going on?

      • Chargersfan4life

         @Bleu  @Chargersfan4life IDK :( I hope he signs with the chargers soon….

        • the gorn

@Chargersfan4life He doesn’t need to sign to be in camp at this point.  So, I don’t know why he’s a no show.

        • RMainwaring

@the gorn  @Chargersfan4life I think usually their agents advise them not to show until they’re signed in case he gets injured. If he gets hurt and he’s not under contract, he’s screwed. It used to be the rule under the old CBA. Might still be.

@Chargersfan4life he was there in attendance.. he is just the only one that does not have a contract

      • Chargersfan4life

@epadaon Do you know why he don’t have a contract? Doe he want more money ?

  • KeenanRickless

The Chargers website says he was there working out.

    • RMainwaring

@KeenanRickless HA! I caught you! You ain’t a CREEPER anymore!!

      • KeenanRickless

@RMainwaring Gah! My creeping isn’t going well!

  • RMainwaring

I couldn’t believe my eyes. The NFL Nutwork actually reported on the Chargers and interviewed Melvin Ingram on Total Access. They also gave Philip Rivers some love too! Didn’t know that #17 has the 5th ALL TIME highest passer rating. Better than Peyton Mannhog and even Joe Montana!!

    • A_Eme_O_Ere

@RMainwaring Loved it how Melvin kept calling Lindsay Rhodes ma’m. BTW-I loved it that they didn’t even mention the Jets once.

  • Bleu

Man I hope they get Brandon Taylor contact out the way today
