Fan Perspective with The Judge! Nick Judge

facebooktwitterreddit

I would like to start by saying that I can’t say how much I truly appreciate every single interviewee taking the time to do these Fan Perspective interviews.  I am having a damn blast.

We have just begun to scratch the surface with these articles.  We have featured young, old, and in between, so to speak.

Joe Clarke from across the pond had a great interview. Jarvis Royall proved that youth has NOTHING to do with the level of knowledge on our Chargers.

Later tonight, in a double dip, we’ll be featuring a guy from Ireland.  I still have seven more articles on deck and some that I have yet to send out questions to as of right now. I’ll hit you up folks, I promise.  I had my first sit face to face Fan Perspective the other day.  It was with my true hero.  It was with my dad.  It might be about two weeks before that one gets printed.  But I’ll tell you this much; it will be worth reading.  This interview is no different. Our next BoltFan really gets it. Here comes the Judge. Here comes the Judge!!

Tonight’s first interview is with diehard Bolthead Nick Judge. If you are on Twitter, give him a follow now @jollygreen66.  Don’t finish reading the article. Follow him now!  Ok, thanks. Now you may proceed.

Let’s do this.

BoogaP: Give us all a little bio about yourself.

Nick:  My name is Nick, I’m 33 years old and I was born inSan Diegoand moved toIdahoin my teens. I’m a stay-at-home dad. My wife works for a couple doctors. She’s my Suga Mama and the best woman in the world.

BoogaP:  When did you first become a Chargers Fan?

Nick:  I’ve been a Chargers fan from birth. My first real memory of the Chargers is my dad taking me to a game when I was about 10 years old.

BoogaP:  Who is your favorite Charger currently on the roster?

Nick: By far that would have to be Philip Rivers. I love his tenacity for the game. He puts it all out on the field.  Lots of people talk down on him for “running his mouth”but I absolutely love it!

BoogaP:  Who is your favorite Charger of all-time?

Nick:  Junior Seau. He was my hero. When I started high school football I mimicked my play on the field after him.  I even had a binder that was covered in pictures of him that I had printed out and taped onto the binder.  RIP55!!

BoogaP:  Is there a player on the team this year that you believe will have a breakout year?

Nick:  I really believe Melvin Ingram has what it takes to be Rookie of the Year. If he can get our schemes down quickly I can see him having a 17 sack breakout year.

BoogaP:  How did you feel when he, Melvin Ingram,  was still on the board at #18? I was even more nervous at that point knowing that I had no clue what AJ was going to do!

Nick:  WOW! What a rush. We all know about the games A.J. plays, so I was just praying he was telling the truth about going defense. I wouldn’t have been that surprised if it had been a smoke screen and he went O-line. Picking Ingram was the highlight of the draft for me.

BoogaP:  If you were to grade the Chargers draft, how well do you think we did?

Nick:  I would give it an ‘A’. Great draft for A.J. as far as I am concerned.  He worked it perfectly as far as taking the highest value player that was also a spot we need filled on our roster. A lot of these guys will make an immediate impact, in my opinion.

BoogaP:  If you could, please rank the starting QBs in the AFC West?

Nick:  1. Rivers 2. Palmer 3. Manning- I just don’t think he has it anymore. 4. Cassel- He never had it. He was a product of a great system under Belichek.

BoogaP:  Who is your least favorite player in the NFL and why?

Nick:  It’s a toss-up between Eli Manning and Tom Brady for obvious reasons. The Pats always stop our playoff runs, and Eli-I’m-too-good-for-you-Manning just will never sit right with me after that draft.

BoogaP:  What is your favorite moment in Chargers history? Nick KILLS THIS ONE! Well, played Nick. Well played!

Nick:  4th and goal. 1:08 on the clock. 1994 AFC Championship. O’Donnell passes, intended for Barry Foster- DENNIS GIBSON LEAPS IN FRONT, BATTING THE BALL DOWN!!!WE’RE GOIN TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!  ‘Nuff said.

BoogaP:  I have predicted that this is the year that the Chargers will win it all for the first time. Do you have a prediction for the upcoming season?

Nick:  That is my prediction as well. I believe we have a playmaker in all the right positions. If we can stay healthy I really think this will be our year! “Do it for #55!”

BoogaP:  Of the other three teams in the AFC West, which one do you believe will pose the biggest threat to our regaining of the AFC West crown?

Nick:  The Chiefs. They have had great drafts the last 3 years and have a lot of talent on the field. I don’t think the Raiders will be as good as last season, and the Broncos were only good because of Tebow last year. Manning doesn’t have it anymore, and even if he does- WE OWN YOU PEYTON!!

BoogaP:  And lastly, how often do you visit BoltBeat.com?

Nick:  I’m new to Twitter and BoltBeat.com but I visit more and more. The articles are always relevant. Thanks for making the fans a bigger part of this!

And that’s the way the cookie crumbles! Nick did a great job and I am very glad that he took the time to share his love for the Bolts with us all.

If you have any questions or comments for Nick, please leave them in the comments section below. And as always…..

P.S. I have no problem saying every time I come in the kitchen…oh, wait.  Every time I think about that play in Pittsburgh I get chills up my spine.  I will never forget Chris Mims, and a host of others, swinging those terrible towels at the end of the game.  Not sure why I vividly remember Mims.  Thanks Boltheads!
