Nascar Racer Michael Waltrip Will Have Junior Seau Tribute On Car For Race This Weekend

I am not a Nascar fan and won’t even pretend I know what I am talking about when it comes to Nascar, but I am a fan of what on racer, Michael Waltrip, has done to his car in tribute for Junior Seau for Sunday’s Aaron’s 499.  Michael Waltrip

I will be hoping that he wins the race this weekend, just because he has that number 55 on the ride!

Go all out!!! If you watch Nascar, please share in the comments who Michael Waltrip is.

I don’t watch much NASCAR, but the Waltrip family is to NASCAR what Junior is to us. They are great ppl, icons to the sport and have inspired many ppl. It is a great tribute that he his doing this, I just may skip fishing to see this or at least set the dvr!

@biggsybolt this actually might get me to turn on Nascar just for a little bit on Sunday!

Michael Waltrip is a Daytona 500 winner along with a long lasting NASCAR career. He now owns Michael Waltrip Racing and normally has 3 cars running in the Sprint Cup Series. Earlier this week, Michael happened to be in San Diego when news of Junior Seau’s death was announced. The number 55 was a major reason Michael decided to honor Junior;s memory… not shown is the ‘eye black’ that was placed under the headlight areas of the 55 car, which Michael drove Sunday. Just another tribute to Junior… I don’t know if Michael and Junior ever met but it is nice to see a professional in a completely different sport acknowledge the loss of another professional.

@JohnJanecek i really appreciate that information.. i noticed that there was a ricky bobby car out on the track also? was that a special thing for that race or is that car always out there?

Kurt Busch decided, with his car owner’s approval, to drive this Talledega race under the “Ricky Bobby” umbrella. Just something special for all NASCAR and TALLEDEGA NIGHTS fans. Even his spotter and crew chief were calling him ‘Ricky” on the radio and Kurt was using catch phrases of Ricky Bobby in return… A simple tribute to a funny movie made with NASCAR’s blessing. Kinda puts racing into it’s proper perspective. Keep the fans interested and entertained… that’ll sell tickets and viewership on TV… and after all, isn’t NASCAR all about PROMOTION of one product or another.

@JohnJanecek thats awesome.. i caught some of those movie quotes being referenced also. that may have been the most i turned onto nascar ever, but i was entertained trying to find the Junior tribute and then seeing a Ricky Bobby car out there. that is definitely one of my favorite movies. shake and bake!
      thanks for the information

Well said! That certainly proved Canada’s stupid foreign policy and the minister shut his wide mouth after hearing all other countries attending the CHOGM. Canada is promoting terrorism to be a close ally to US. This is very wrong and they just want to grab the Tamil votes which are mostly Liberal.
