Chargers Rookie Johnnie Troutman Likely To Miss The Season

The Chargers drafted Johnnie Troutman, a guard out of Penn State that had a previous DUI and now we a discovering that he might not be able to contributed this season. Troutman recently had pectoral surgery and also has had a serious knee injury. (SDUT)

All these issues were known by the Bolts and we still decided to select him in the draft. The Chargers had a good weekend in the draft, but this was the puzzling selection for the team. This is where we thought AJ had lost his mind again.

Somehow, I am pretty sure AJ started pulling names out of a hat again and ended up with the name Johnnie Troutman. This would be the third straight year that one of our draft picks had to sit out the year – Donald Butler and Jonas Mouton had done it the previous couple of seasons. In the next draft, let’s just assume that one of these guys will be missing the whole season!

Come on your job is on the line and you pick someone that might be good next year.

  • johnnyrotten57

I rated this Draft a solid A, but after this, I,m not so sure, I,m pissed about this.

  • the gorn

The front office didn’t vet this guy.  I bet they didn’t know about the dui until after they picked him.

    • CindiSpears

@the gorn If they did not know they are bigger idiots than I already thought.  Even if I’m hiring a gardener I google them.

      • the gorn

@CindiSpears This shows us that they’re either lazy or stupid.  Either way it should make us concerned.  I live in NY.  As much as I hate the Yankees, stuff like this rarely happens.  They do their homework, they do their best to win.  I don’t get the sense that that’s what Spanos is trying to do.  I think he’s just happy to be one of the 32 NFL owners.

  • the gorn

With crap like this happening, you have to wonder if the war room is just a bunch of guys pouring over a bunch of scouting reports.  Any of us can do that!  What happened to all the scouts the Chargers are supposed to have out in the field, checking out prospects throughout the year?  These guys would know the players and be able to check on them.

  • SandyPeisner

Wasted pick he will never play. Every thing I read said people were shocked that the Bolts chose him

  • Bolts_NFL_music

@ChargerGrlCindi Wow hard words, but you´re right those news are annoying – by the way: http://t.co/yPqnQl7D -> great fan site #BOLTUP

    Waste of a pick.

  • the gorn

A scout costs about $95k/year.  The first year of Troutman’s contract is going to be a multiple of that.  We need more scouts on the ground to do the due diligence necessary for a multimillion dollar contract.

  • Bleu

Y does it seem like they just can’t make better decisions from an organizational standpoint for the team. The object is to win once they understand that we will c success

  • Bleu

We can bounce back tho. They can correct this mistake n make some adjustments

  • RussellGrant

How do you miss that tidbit before the draft?  Thank God he didn’t get picked higher

  • Bleu

Rest n Peace Jr.Seau…….. Much love to him n his family

  • PeteSpinning1

Yeah.. that’s pretty disappointing. Not so disappointed about the DUI.. not saying that having one is a good thing… but, 3/4 of the people I know, and work with have one. Doesn’t mean they are a liability… everyone makes mistakes, ya know? Injuries, on the other hand, are a total red flag. Not sure why we picked a player with TWO injuries? I guess they must be thinking that he will be all healed up, and ready to contribute in a major way, once healthy ???

    • http://boltbeat.com/ epadaon

@PeteSpinning1 that must be what they are thinking.. he better be good once he starts playing… next year. so crazy

  • SandyPeisner

What I’m disappointed at is everyone had him at 7th round or free agent pick up. Bolts drafted him now he is injured. How come they didn’t do their homework.
