If the Bolts do not make the playoffs then the draft is meaningless. I go on results, and as fans, we go into our six year of the Norv Turner experiment. It should have been three years, but Dean Spanos
thought so highly of Smith and Turner he extended their contracts. What good NFL head coach would want to go to a team that just fired a very good coach that finished the season at 14-2. Looking on past drafts and after each one the staff did the rah rah thing to convince the fans that they made the
correct choices. If the Chargers go deep into the playoffs then Spanos can ride the remaining years
(2 on Turner & 3 on Smith) on the contracts and see where the team is at the end of those terms.
Spanos ate the last year of Shottenheimer's contract (4 Million) and does not want to do it again. His
indecision has cost him a fan base and made it necessary to extend the season ticket payment
schedule from three payments to five. Now we see Smith and Turner all over the Network Sports
programs going on about the Chargers chances because of these great choices in the draft. I say
show me the Lombardi Trophy next February or shut your pie hole.
