One of the biggest surprises yesterday in the NFL Draft was the selection of West Virginia LB Bruce Irvin by the Seattle Seahawks with the 15th overall pick.

If you were like me, you was sitting and hoping that the Seahawks, Jets and Bengals forgot that Melvin Ingram was still on the board. One of our BoltBeat writers, Phil, suggested that we should wave a sandwich in front of Rex Ryan before he makes his selection to distract him.

I know that Bruce Irvin runs really fast and is a super athlete, but there were players like MELVIN INGRAM on the board when that selection was made!!! Thank you Pete Carroll for giving us another gift! Would you like to make another trade for Charlie Whitehurst?

Maybe Bruce Irvin turns into a monster of a linebacker and shuts me up, but at this moment in time… I LOVE THE SELECTION THAT THE SEACHICKENS MADE!

My friend e-mailed me on Wednesday and asked me who we would pick. I told him we’d get DeCastro or Gilmore at 18, Shea or Smith if we traded down or Barron or Ingram if we moved up. Couldn’t believe that he was still there at 18. Jon Gruden called him a “Deluxe football player that you can play anywhere. Superior athletic ability.” Mel Kiper called him a ferocious football player and the best value pick of the first half of the draft. I love the haters already spinning this into a “reach” at 18. I finally realize it’s not about the pick…it’s all about dumping on AJ, Norv and the Boltz. Drank myself to oblivion last night.

We can’t forget to throw a nod towards Carson Palmer, who with his refusal to play for Cincinnati; forced a trade that denied the Raiders the chance of grabbing Ingram before us. I think old Palmer is a closet Bolt head.
