What Players Do You NOT Want The Chargers To Select Today?

After considering all these players in the draft for the 18th pick, I am sure there are a few names that you don’t want the Chargers to select at the 18th pick. I know I have a few names on my list that you guys love, but for some reason I don’t like them.

Here are a few names I don’t want to hear the Chargers select at 18:

Harrison Smith – Round 2, yes! Later in round 1, yes! Pick 18, PLEASE NO!

Nick Perry – For some reason I think he started getting over-hyped. His combine workout was awesome, but I don’t know if he fits as a 3-4 linebacker.

Chandler Jones – He LOOKS like a good football player, but he has not done anything on the field.

Dontari Poe – Just because a big man can run doesn’t mean that he can plug a hole on the defensive line.

Shea McClellin – Another guy I would love to get in round number 2, but his headaches (concussions) scare the poop out of me

Go ahead and kill me for putting Perry on this list. If you asked me who I wanted us to select a couple of months ago, he was on the top of my list, but now I  would rather go in another direction. I know, I know, I know… just murder me on the comments and tell me why I should get back on that bandwagon!

Who are the players that you don’t want to hear the Chargers selecting at pick number 18?

    Ryan Leaf.  Just no future there.

    Seriously, I want AJ to concentrate on bringing in people ready to play with 1-2 seasons.  Give me defense and more defense so that Pagano can put together something that’ll keep QBs up at night.  No projects or reaches.

    I with ya on Perry!! I’v never really be sold on him and i agree that he has been “Over-Hyped” Only redeeming factor is that he is out of USC and has chemistry with Joe Barry

       @BrandonReisinger yes… NOT ALONE! WHEW

  • RussellGrant

    Perry has potential to be a beast but he also has potential to be a bust.  Maybe Junior would consider mentoring the young Trojan to bring him up to expectations.  Not that impressed with Chandler Jones.  Poe is kind of interesting.  But if we are looking inside, I’d use the pick on a future Captain like Hightower (Yep, I said Captain.  He has that presence)

       @RussellGrant get me the captain! i am right there with you on Hightower!

    • BrandonReisinger

       @RussellGrant I like Hightower also! I think Ingram is the only “Elite” pass rusher in this class. If we cant get up high enough for him then i think it has to be Hightower or Barron, Just for the record i would not be upset if we took Floyd.. and i don’t think its a stretch that AJ would do something like that after letting Vincent walk.

    it’s not right that i am nervous about the draft, BUT I AM

    • BrandonReisinger

       @epadaon Me too, but its a good nervous! This time tomorrow we will either be feeling really good or really bad, And i don’t think there will be any in between.

      • http://boltbeat.com/ epadaon

         @BrandonReisinger its like game day!!! somehow we will win or lose with one pick today.. haha

        • BrandonReisinger

           @epadaon ZING!

  • RMainwaring

    As long as Smith doesn’t “over” draft. If he picks smart and doesn’t try to get cute, we’ll be ok. I’m not as nervous today as I am on game days.

  • RMainwaring

    As long as A.J. Smith doesn’t get “cute” and picks smart we’ll be ok. Just don’t over draft. I’m kinda nervous but I get more nervous on game days.

    I also don’t like Perry. Doesn’t have the eyes and instincts to be a great OLB. Does not set the edge and needs to work on defending the run. For being a freakish athlete, he plays small. I’m not impressed.
