Chargers Re-Sign DE Luis Castillo

The San Diego Chargers brought back DE Luis Castillo after cutting him earlier in the off-season. Luis Castillo will add depth to the defensive line.

Castillo will now be coming off of the bench, instead of his role as the starter and will be backing up Vaughn Martin. This is another big move for the defense and for the depth up front.

We now have Castillo joining Corey Liuget, Vaughn Martin, Jacques Cesaire, Antonio Garay and Cam Thomas up front. I LIKE IT! I still wish we had gone after Tommie Harris. Maybe we will.

just heard Gehlken mention Ronnie Brown as a possibility for the Chargers backup RB job… i like the idea of that

I don’t think I have ever been happier with a Chargers free agency period.  Honestly, I can’t remember when I was so pleased at this point in the offseason.
Agreed on Tommie Harris.  I REALLY believe he will be ready to prove a point this year. My reasoning for that are obvious.
Wouldn’t mind Hester coming back either. Special teams demon. Plus, it sounds like McClain might truly be RB2 with an emphasis on FB.
I still want Chris Rainey in third or fourth :)

there is going to be a lot of battles this year in training camp. its going to be awesome. hopefully all the competition puts the Chargers over the top with players having chips on there shoulders.
God Willing we win the big dance. Go Chargers

just in case… deal is for 1 year for $1 million… also has $1 million incentive based on playing time.

I thought Harris did a pretty good job last year, would like to see him back. Looks line th d line is getting pretty full though which is good. Means we can focus on pass rush, safety, and oline in the draft.

Major props to Luis! There are very few players who would accept this kind of deal. If Luis can get to the level he played back in 2007 I’m sure he will push Vaughn even more.
