Ricky Williams Signed Retirement Papers, But Would Consider Playing For Chargers

Run Ricky Run! Mandatory Credit: Rick Osentoski-US PRESSWIRE

Ricky Williams signed his papers for retirement, BUT he did say he would consider playing for his hometown San Diego Chargers an AM 1300 The Zone, The Longhorn Station.

PUFF, PUFF, PASS RICKY!!! Do you think he likes the idea of getting a medical marijuana license out here?

We do need a backup runningback! Would you consider Pretty Ricky?

Ricky is from San Diego and he will be 35 years old next season. He still had a 4.1 yards per carry average last season and he is a couple of seasons out from a 1,000 yard season. Can he still get it done?

I didn’t see him playing much last season, so I don’t know if he is still able to run the ball well still. I know that he is a threat at catching the ball out of the backfield and I also know that he has always been in good shape.

So…. Patrick Henry Alum Ricky Williams?

I’m a little iffy on that move. I do like having hometown talent, but I’m not to sure about him. He would be cheap tho, and ….awe never mind, as I was typing I realized I would rather have a bruiser style back. Someone like Battle, or if there is one in the draft

@biggsybolt hahahhaha… i dont know why, but i dont like Battle. if we get him, he better help me change my opinion on that

@epadaon from what it sounds like McClain might be the second back, not sure I like it tho. If it does happen I see Summers getting more work at fb, and taking a mid round rb, hopefully Hillman

@biggsybolt  it does sound like they could use mcclain as the backup if needed. dont like the idea of that. we would have to re-sign summers if that is their plan though.

  • Jeffrey Perkins

Sign him AJ…. 1 year deal.

  • SteveDiaz

I think we need to go younger, faster, stronger. The only other RB we should go for is MATT FORTE. He’s unhappy in Chicago.

  • the gorn

Ha, ha.  Not likely to be an AJ kind of guy.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ epadaon

@the gorn not an AJ guy at all… just love that he would come back home!

  • mdnghtmike

@chargersbuzztap negative. take your bowl somewhere else. lol

  • MikeTuck

Not a AJ guy at all, but when you play for your hometown it really changes things to. It would take a couple years off Rickey and a one year deal would be great. Smith should talk to him about retiring and hanging around unless there are injurys. Count the Great Running Backs that have come out of SD, and not many have got to play for them.
