Getting To Know New Chargers LB Jarret Johnson

I went over to Ebony Bird, FanSided Baltimore Ravens site, to get a little more information on our new signing Jarret Johnson and here is what Tynan Patrick had to share with us:

Johnson is the epitome of a team player. he has been as good as almost any player on the Ravens D for years but he never is talked about the same way as Suggs or Ngata because he is a very quiet guy. He is a top 10 OLB in the league and arguably the best run defender in the league at the OLB position. He sets a mean edge in the run game and will really help the Chargers against power run teams like the Broncos (2 of JJs best career games have come against the Broncos in the past few years). Chargers got a big time player for a big time deal. If I were a Chargers fan, I would be very excited about this signing, he is a great guy and about as classy as they come in addition to being a very solid player. Players don’t get much more consistent or reliable. He will be a locker room leader and a defensive anchor for the next 4 years. The other thing about JJ is that he doesnt really have a weakness in his game. he is at least solid at everything, good cover man, servicable pass rusher(not spectacular but he gets home more than he is given credit for) and elite run defender.

Some Chargers fans started screaming “WHO?!” when the name was first announced, but we will definitely know his name by the first game of the season. He will add some toughness to this team and will help try to shed that soft label off of this team.
