I think he will more than make strides this year. Floyd, Brown and Meachum will be alot for teams to handle. I'd still like to see laMichael James get drafted and play some in the spread offense. Sperry is OK but we need to get a great back-up to Gates. Smith needs to seriously look at inviting a few undrafted free agents to camp, just be watching the NCAA Tourney for a PF that is a tweener and won't be drafted in the NBA. Talk with one of these guys about Gates success and the chance at playing TE in the NFL. There's alot of great Atheletes that choose Basketball and excell in college but are caught between the PF and SF size and speed. But they'd be a great size for the NFL. I know that Glen Davis did well for Boston but his footwork for a man his size would make a great blocking TE or even Guard.Some of these great atheletes give up when they could play Football.
