Chargers Are Not Likely To Go After Dwight Freeney Via Trade

Earlier this morning, Adam Schefter reported that the Colts are taking calls from teams that are willing to trade for Dwight Freeney. The Colts are looking to get fair value for Freeney, who has one year left on his contract at the price of $14 million and he just recently turned 33 years old. I don’t know what exactly fair value is, but I am sure that they are looking for some draft picks to build for the future.

The Chargers are not likely to go after Dwight Freeney via a trade (Acee), but if the Colts decide to release him, then he would be one of the premiere pass rushers available and someone we could consider. There are not many options available through free agency after Mario Williams, so he will draw plenty of interest from teams.

Where would he play in our 3-4 scheme? Does it matter? Just get him on the field and let him do what he does best, GET AFTER THE QUARTERBACK! He would have to make some adjustments, but that seems to be the case with any pass rusher that we try to bring in.

Here’s the kind of trade that a homer would suggest making:  Freeney for Hester and English!

@the gorn sounds like those fantasy football trades from the dude that picked up some wide receivers off the waiver wire and tried to pawn him off as the next Jerry Rice.

I think it’s funny that Colts put Freeney on the block…but they will only trade him for, “the right price.”  Just what hell do they expect to get for a guy who is past his best years and has a $19 million cap number that he is unwilling to renegotiate?  Good luck!
