Reggie Wayne Is Too Old For The Chargers

Brian Spurlock-US PRESSWIRE

Scratch Reggie Wayne off of the list for a possible replacement if the event we don’t want to talk about happens. Some people in the organization feel that Wayne is too old (Acee). Wayne will be 34 years old next season. I guess all the Hines Ward fans just lost some steam with this news also.  Terrell Owens and Randy Moss fans… SORRY.

Too old? Didn’t we sign Takeo Spikes last season?

I would assume that our number 1 target if Vincent Jackson leaves will be either Brandon Lloyd or Marques Colston.  Both have been very productive and can stretch the field. Colston has some injury concerns and we already have a receiver that can’t last past the half in Malcom Floyd. Lloyd is a little older, but not to the Reggie Wayne ancient status.

JUST SIGN VJ

Wayne will probably end up wherever Manning does, but I’m not buying the “too old” thing–could be a smokescreen to try and play down our potential interest.  Wasn’t AJ Smith’s first WR addition from outside the organization Keenan McCardell?

Ace has been duped by his organizational “insiders” before.

@NickGoulart1 yea we did get mccardell and he played well for us for a bit.

if manning and wayne go out to miami, that would be a sweet “looking” offense. wayne and marshall out wide with reggie bush out the backfield to catch passes.

@NickGoulart1 Wayne and Manning are working out in Florida.  I’m guessing he’ll be in Miami

I agree Colston or Meachump from the Saints would be a better fit

    • http://boltbeat.com/ epadaon

@SandyPeisner did you write chump on purpose? :)

      • SandyPeisner

@epadaon no I just can;t spell and i think Colston would be amaing

        • http://boltbeat.com/ epadaon

@SandyPeisner i would love to have both of them… meachum is really good in the red zone and we needed help with that last year

        • SandyPeisner

@epadaon I agree. They would both be great with Rivers and cheaper than VJ

  • the gorn

I’d rather sign this guy to a two year deal than Hester.
