The Teams That Will Be In The Vincent Jackson Bidding War

There are about 8 teams that are expected to seriously pursue Vincent Jackson according to Kevin Acee. AND of course the “mystery team” that could push the price tag out of the Chargers reach. Do we just add this “mystery team” in all these situations, just in case he signs with someone we didn’t think about?

Here is my guess on the 8 teams that Acee was suggesting:

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Chicago Bears
  • San Francisco 49ers
  • Washington Redskins
  • New England Patriots
  • Buffalo Bills
  • Minnesota Vikings
  • St Louis Rams

Did I miss any? Of course our San Diego Chargers are in the mix also.

I am pretty sure I have heard a connection with VJ on each one of those teams. I am also pretty sure that we will turn our love for VJ to extreme HATE if he went on to join the New England Patriots and Tom Brady. Then that HATE will be pointed in the direction of AJ Smith and somehow Norv Turner.

Seen this before with John Jefferson, he wishes he’d stay’d w/ the Chargers. Hopefully Jackson will come to the same conclusion.

@MikeTuck I’m still bitter over that JJ move

      • the gorn

@biggsybolt  @MikeTuck So, am I.  Gene Klein’s moving out JJ and Fred Dean killed our team’s chances at a Superbowl.  Klein had this bizarre refusal to renegotiate contracts.  Dean was only making $70k/year.

I think Jackson sticks with us ultimately. Of all the teams that you have mentioned most of them don’t have that much salary cap or if they acquire VJ they would still need help to get to the playoff (ie bills, rams, vikings, redskins and bucs). I will be shocked if he does not stay with us.

@drewwall1 im gonna have to hope that you are not shocked then!

Klien was a sweet owner and loved football, he was a far better man than the Spano’s management. Jackson should have at least got a three year deal last year insted of Smith holding the whole team hostage over floyd and Jackson, their two most productive recievers and becoming better every year. Were talking about alot more money, this is where you separate the player that’s in the league to win a Championship and one that’s just getting the highest salary his ego will allow. It’s rediculous anyway that WR get paid that much more than a O-lineman. A O-lineman is the most important player to the QB than anyone on the offense and that trumps a Defensive player. They aren’t glamourus but their who win Superbowls. If Jackson would settle for a good contract letting Smith know that he’s willing to take less to get So-So in free agency. Personnally this speaks of what kind of person he really is. I really Jazzed about Brown. He looked solid last year, barely dropping any passes and making strong-strong catches. He,Floyd and Gates could hold their own too. So if there’s a problem w/ Jackson maybe you do draft Michael Floyd ND. Then we’d have a Brown sandwhich.

Douche bag agents + douche bag GM = The current VJ situation or the perfect storm as I like to call it!

  • Lisa Dean

Im sure New England will not pass up the oppirtunity for greatness…however, as always Chargers making plans to continue mediocrity. GO WITH THAT ALL INSIGHTFUL EGO AJ, YOU ARE A REAL SPEED BUMP ON THE CHARGERS ABILITY TO ACHIEVE GREATNESS…PROVE ME WRONG….PLEASE!!

  • Kiko Wilson

AJ you are a bum…This is coming for a.true Charger fan!! ME…

Agents need Lawyers to make them feel human. King of the Leeches, without egotistic owners and the Scumbag Agents Football wouldn,t swell the Egos of Good atheletes coming out of college and those that have moved on to knight status. Then the familys of middle class familys could afford going to a game. The NFL players Union should have lawyers to handle all players and keep the Owners and player greed card lost. This is where players that are suppose to be leaders are afraid to get involved ingetting teamates to be resonable in order to get a great team together. Rivers, Gates Phillips etc. should step up and talk to jackson and the other free agents about thinking about the team and renegotiating their contracts in order to get a Williams, Grubbs and Backus to make the team Superbowl caliber.
