Chargers Willing To Pay Vincent Jackson $10-11 Million Annually

This Vincent Jackson drama will be the biggest story of the off-season until he actually signs his name on the contract for some team. Here is the latest notes from Kevin Acee:

The Chargers are believed to be willing to pay Jackson between $10-11 million annually on a five-year deal, but they are inclined to let the market be set by others. Jackson is expected to receive more in offers from other teams.

At least we met with Vincent’s people to share the situation with them. We wany him back, but we are not going to give him the money like other teams might be willing to do.

$10-11 million per would get him around the Brandon Marshall and Andre Johnson range in terms of salary. That was the price tag for him a couple of seasons ago, but I think the cost has gone up like the gas prices. Tampa, Minnesota, Cleveland and all the other teams are pulling out their checkbooks now and ready to bring him in for more money.

    this is so burnt i just sent a email to Dean S. why would u let the dude hit the open market and jack the price up on your own self. he wanted 10 wit 5yrs at the beginning of last season or something and instead hit him with the tag. why why why. would you or any one let someone of his beast mode ability to explore better money options. i dont get it. whats the point. if u can sign him now at 10 or 11 why let him look around aand see how much money else where he can get. just plain stupid. If VJ is not retained then what. blow an early pick on a WR. Rookie Brown played well last year but u can see that learning Norvs playbook took him a while. we bring in another WR that doent know the system then what happens. oh, i know, we have to wait for another learning curve to be completed and next thing u know we got a mid season melt down but wait the last four out of five will look good but wait, lol, its to late the season is over and the draft comes again and next think u know everyones mock draft will have us picking a WR in the first round, all cuz we got rid of VJ,     I F-ing LOVE IT LOL STRAIGHT BURNT.

    Gotta give the chargers credit on this one, its a fair offer. I love Vj as much as anyone but the ball is in his court now if he decides to leave, thats on him not A.J. Man i hope he pulls an m80 and stays for less money

  • Trong Lam

    VJ always stated that he wanted to stay with the chargers. Let’s see if this is true or is he just chasing the money.

    seeing this only proves how skewed the front office is…sigh I hope we keep him

  • thx113874

    he’s going to sign with Chicago

       @thx113874 NEEEEEEVEEEEEEEEER

      • thx113874

        Let’s put it this way, SD has let LT, Brees, and Sproles walk. Chicago has been active in acquiring big ticket players the last few years…Cutler and Peppers come to mind. I think the odds of Chicago signing him are greater than SD keeping him.

          @thx113874 Jackson is a Charger next year…..and you can take that to the bank.

           @thx113874  @619chargers4life you’ve lost it.

    • epadaon

       @thx113874 this would be one team that i could see hitting hard for him… one more reason for me to hate Jay cutler!

       @thx113874 I see it this way.  AJ has to GM for his life this year.  He let LT, Sproles and Brees walk.  There is no jump to LA in the near future thanks to Roger Goodell.  So him taking his normal “My way or the highway” attitude is the fastest way to end up getting shown the door January 2013.  AJ will overpay for Jackson and maybe learn to sign talent a year or two before the price jumps.

    The Chargers tried the Floyd at #1 receiver experiment”, and learned that he just can’t do it. Floyd looked great last year because he drew #2 receiver coverage; all thanks to Mr. Jackson. Dean knows this, Turner knows this, and sure as hell AJ knows this. They might have to pay Vincent 12 M a year, but believe me when I say that “they will pay him”. Evan if it means franchising him just so they can give themselves more time to negotiate. We are going to get back to the post season by patching our holes, not by creating new ones.
