Jason LaCanfora Reverses Field, Now Expects Vincent Jackson Back With Chargers

Christopher Hanewinckel-US PRESSWIRE

First, Jason LaCanfora says that there is no way he sees Vincent Jackson back in a Chargers jersey. Now, he is reversing field with a new blog post saying to expect VJ back in the blue and gold:

People close to Jackson tell me they’re convinced that he will ultimately be franchised, despite reports that the team won’t apply the tag. It would cost around $14 million for the Chargers to use the tag for a second straight year on the receiver.

That represents big money, for sure. But tight end Antonio Gates has slowed down some and the Chargers have already lost some receivers over the years. Letting a vertical threat like Jackson walk away would leave a big void.

Can we just end this drama already?! Just sign the man to a long-term contract and start working on the other holes on this team.

The deadline to put a franchise tag on VJ is on March 5th and I guess we have to wait till that date to figure out what is going to happen with the franchise tag. Today, the stories say that we expect a franchise tag and the story will probably change again in a couple of days.

If we do actually give VJ the Franchise Tag, should we just expect this drama all over again next off-season? Let’s just get that long-term deal done and end the drama!

i love all the jason Lacanfora BS, its awesome. good article though. Good news. yeeee motha f in haaaaa. but come on how can i take Jason seriously. all he does is speculate and way to often. until i see it happen i refuse to believe it. even though i wish VJ were staying, We dont know until its official . Man i cant wait til august and we see who is here and who is not.

BTW correct me if im wrong but doesn’t Ronnie Hillman look just like Darren, LT, and Marshal. and he is way under the radar.

    • 619chargers4life

Maybe i should leave Jason alone. lol he is just doing his job. lol working on BSing lol

@619chargers4life i think he covered his bases… he has said that VJ won’t be here and he also says expect him here… either way, he will be RIGHT!

        • 619chargers4life

@epadaon lol ur right about that

        • the gorn

@epadaon @619chargers4life Sounds like a typical blogger or talk radio guy. These guys never put their money where their mouth is.

@619chargers4life YES!!! would love to sneak away with Ronnie Hillman from the draft and have him as a backup out here!!! I don’t know which round he will get drafted in, but would love him here!

  • biggsybolt

Kinda like all the Acee BS about Norv and AJ! Yes they are covering all bases, but really both are hacks. Meh, I’m just jealous I’m not making all that scratch they are by spuing BS.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ epadaon

@biggsybolt maybe i should start making up crap too!! hahahahaha!!!!

as with the norv and aj crap, i wont believe anything till it actually happens!

As long as VJ doesn’t demand elite money, i.e., $10M+ per year, they should get VJ under a long term deal, provided AJ doesn’t pull one of his power trips. I don’t want to burn a 1st or 2nd round pick on a WR or get some 3rd string or washed up FA WR. We need our picks and money spent on a pass rusher, other DL and OL. In fact, we better face up to the facts that we’re going to have to rebuild our O-line real soon.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ epadaon

@the gorn that O-Line is real beat up!!! guys are falling left and right.

I think Tyronne Green will be a good fill-in at guard soon for Dielman, if needed. As much as we are questionable about the left side of the line and who is playing there, i dont like who i know is playing on the right side of that line. false start Clary is a drive killer!

As far as Jason’s article goes, now he can say “I told you so” no matter which way it goes. Paying Jackson 5 years 50-55 million would likely settle this nonsense and take care of this need. Now if AJ is really trying to improve the franchise, he’ll end all this and sign him.Burning a high pick on a rookie is a crap shoot and other teams #2,3,4 targets are not the answer. Sign our number 1 threat now and get to work on building the damn team!

now ESPN Bill Williamson says this:

Smith said he wants to keep receiver Vincent Jackson, but wouldn’t say if he things he will be kept. I think the team’s best scenario is to let Jackson go to free agency and then sign him after he gets other options. That was the tact the team made with safety Eric Weddle last year. Unless other things fall unexpectedly, don’t expect the Chargers to give Jackson the franchise tag.

don’t these guys read each other’s notes?

I say expect Vincent Jackson to catch passes at a football field near you!
