NFL Mocks: Chargers Select DT Michael Brockers w/ 18th Pick

Every week, we try to check in and see what our friends over at NFL Mocks has for their latest mock draft. This is the second time they have chosen a Defensive Tackle for us and this kid is a monster though. Take a look at their selection this week:

18. San Diego Chargers
. Michael Brockers, DL, LSU
. The Chargers win the Brockers derby in this draft, getting a guy who seems like he will be drafted much later than he should because he has just one year of dominance at this level. This would be the steal of the first round here in my opinion.

This dude is 6’6″ 300+ in the middle of the defense. That is a monster of a man! He should be able to clog up some running lanes and take up some blockers with that size.

A lot of our draft selection depends on what we do in free agency and what we do with a lot of our free agents. If we bring back Antonio Garay, then there will not be a huge need for an interior defensive lineman in the draft and we should set our focus in another direction.

AJ did select an interior lineman last season in Corey Liuget and moved him to the end position. I guess there is always a possibility of doing that with Brockers since there is chatter that Luis Castillo will not be brought back. We would have a really young defensive line with a rotation of Corey Liuget, Cam Thomas, Michael Brockers and Vaughn Martin out there. As long as they are out there making plays!
