More Info on Chargers Newest Hard-Hitting Safety

Yesterday, the Chargers signed S Deandre McDaniel onto the roster and he looks like he would be a candidate to help out on special teams or he could even help as a backup in the secondary. He comes out of Clemson and was teammates with rookie Marcus Gilchrist.

Here is more information on McDaniel that I just found off of wikipedia:

In June 2008, McDaniel was arrested for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature after an argument with his girlfriend. McDaniel reportedly choked his girlfriend, punched her in the head and chest, and pushed her down a flight of stairs, causing her to seek medical attention for “serious bodily injury”.[1]

A lot of things can change after 4 years, but a history like that is not part of the normal choir-boy image that AJ Smith brings onto this team. Could there be a little adjustment in the AJ philosophy? Let’s wait to see what happens in the draft and through free agency to see if AJ has made a little shift in his ways.

Here is an article on the incident from Real Football 365

Dick's Sporting Goods presents "Hell Week":

Huh, my opinion of him went down a bit with that…hopefully he’s learned to focus that rage on people with football helmets instead of his girl.

Hope this means they draft Burfict

This could be great news for the Chargers, It would shorten the need list. The more free agents we get that fit in the Draft can be used as a wish list, and not depended on. If we can find a veteran corner that will fill in for Jammer if age and speed catch up to him, great.

It would be sweet to get jarius Byrd when he becomes a free agent, good family, grew up locally and has looked good in Buffalo. Even offering a trade with our picks and player would be a great move. I’ve often wondered when I talk of family, loyalty and football, why is it some of the greatest running backs in NFL History grew up in san Diego but we can’t get them to come play at home? Bush is proving his worth now! Byrd’s Father is my favorite CB in Charger history.
