Steve Fairchild... wait!!! Is that Norv 2.0?!?!

The San Diego Chargers have officially promoted Hal Hunter as the new offensive coordinator today to take over the role that was vacated by Clarence Shelmon (@sdchargersdude).

The club also announced that Steve Fairchild will be joining the coaching staff. Fairchild was the former head coach of Colorado State University. He has been a coach in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills and the St Louis Rams. His role on the team has not yet been announced.

i love that the new Chargers coach has his own hashtag also:

Here is Fairchild’s new title for the Bolts:

    Senior offensive assistant/special assignments.

So, I think he calls the timeouts on the sideline, unless Philip is running out of time on the play clock and needs to burn one himself. And he also gets the coffee for the rest of the coaching staff in the morning: SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT STARBUCKS RUN!

Uh, why are we hiring a coach with 3 straight losing record?

Steve Fairchild doesn’t sound promising. According to the following post in profootballtalk.com, Fairchild sucks.

As a Colorado State season ticket holder I wish you good luck with Fairchild. Depends how much he’s involved but he wasn’t very good here. Horrible play calling led to 3 straight 3-9 seasons and the reason he’s with you.

One of the reason the Patriots are so good is that Belichick is smarter, more organized than everyone else. You can see it in his educational background. I hate to sound like a higher ed snob but Fairchild played qb in the junior college ranks. I think this speaks to his abilities and intelligence.
