NFL Mocks Chooses WR Alshon Jeffery With Chargers 13th Pick

Our homeboys over at NFL Mocks just placed up their most recent mock draft for the 2012 class. If the season ended today, we would be sitting with lucky pick number 13! Here is who NFL Mocks has us selecting with that pick:

13. San Diego Chargers (4-7)-Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
Something is wrong with Philip Rivers this year. Is it the weapons surrounding him (the loss of Darren Sproles?), an injury? I’m not sure. But maybe the Chargers feel that they don’t have enough WR depth and talent so they grab the very talented, but not productive-enough Alshon Jeffery. I personally feel the Chargers should look cornerback here with his pick.

IF the Chargers move on from Vincent Jackson in the offseason, then we would have to look at potential players at receiver. Jeffrey is that prototypical Chargers receiver standing at 6’4″ with a lot of athleticism.

Check out his tape here:

Receiver shouldn’t be our top priority going into the draft, but a lot of that depends on what we plan to do in free agency.

    I understand what they are saying since there is rumors floating around that Floyd is gone after this season, but I can realistically see us drafting an OLB or an ILB.

      @drewwall1 that outside linebacker that can bring a pass rush will be HUGE for us to pick up this offseason.

    Like you said if V-Jax leaves then Jeffery would the pick or they could still draft OLB Courtney Upshaw in the 1st and get WR Nick Toon in the 2nd. I think V-Jax will stay and the Chargers go 1. OLB, 2. OT. 3. TE. I’d like to get Courtney Upshaw, RT Mike Adams, and TE Coby Fleener.

      @ThomasBell

      I have no diagreements with your picks. How about a corner too? Jammer and Cason have been disappointing this year. With that being said it could be Manusky’s fault because Jammer has never been this bad. Cason I have no idea what is with him. I am hoping he is just having a bad year and not being another cromartie with only one great year and so-so other years.

        @drewwall1@ThomasBell we almost should give some of these defensive backs a pass since we cant get any pass rush on the quarterbacks… Cason is getting muscled out of the way a lot though… hopefully gilchrist works hard this off-season and challenges to be the starter.

      @ThomasBell i was thinking about Upshaw as well… we need that force on the outside of our defense… I think you have the priorities right on with those three positions for drafts… defensive back and d-line are other spots we will need to fill as well.

    No. no, and no. even if we lose V-Jax, there is no way our 1st pick should be a WR. Our top picks should go in this order:

    1:OL

    2:S

    3.FB-(if Hester is gone)

    4.WR

    5.OLB

    • http://boltbeat.com/ epadaon

      @All Charged Up linebacker has to move way up on that priority list…

      • All Charged Up

        @epadaon

        OLB would go up if we make no moves in the offseason on one.

    Enough already, Draft a O-line that will be Rivers future and do it with Zest, 4picks & 10 invites. You’d be surprised how many great players the Draft Experts miss and they never play a down of Football in their life. They’re smart athletic and want to play but teams want big names and you shouldn’t have a big name coming out of college, you earn it trying out.
