SAN DIEGO — The Chargers are back in survival mode. It’s a familiar position for this team, which is used to facing a series of games deemed must wins because of their own doing.

SAN DIEGO — Chargers cornerback Antoine Cason lost his starting job a few weeks ago. After a pair of rough outings by rookie Marcus Gilchrist, a source said it’s extremely likely that he has gotten it back.

Before the season, many Chargers earnestly talked about their goals. And being good enough, it seemed, wasn’t going to be good enough anymore.

The game should have been over. The Green Bay Packers had a 45-31 lead with 7:32 left in the fourth quarter when the San Diego Chargers lined up for an onside kick. The Packers likely would have put the game away had they recovered.
