Antoine Cason Could Be Benched as Early as Next Week

According to an interview on XX1090, Kevin Acee suggests that Antoine Cason could see the bench as early as next week and the starting corner spot would go to rookie Marcus Gilchrist. Cason has had a bad season and the worst showed yesterday against Plaxico Burress and the Jets.

Cason looked terrible in coverage and was outmatched against Plax. He has not played well against bigger receivers and it might be time to get the rookie more reps and get Gilchrist prepared to start for the rest of the season. Gilchrist has filled in a couple of times for Quentin Jammer and has looked good out there.

Quentin Jammer still is an excellent corner on one side and teams are avoiding throwing the ball in his direction. Teams keep taking advantage of Cason’s match-up.

      @epadaon
      Agreed! Wondering if Hughes gets the start over Gilchrist?

      I personally would be happy with either one.

        @gpettooh hughes is really good covering that slot… i would think gilchrist since he filled in for jammer when he had to sit out.

          @epadaon
          Good point! i am ready to see G-christ get a shot.
          Never been sold on Kson.
          hope this is a move in the right direction.

          @gpettooh if youre not moving youre dead… at least we are trying something different! Hope G-Christ steps it up!

      • BB_Chargers

        @gpettooh but agree… either way we are better off!

  • BB_Chargers

    @gpettooh maybe he can focus on punt returns… if norv lets him do that again

  • SDchargerfan951

    @epadaon @fansided it they already knew he looked bad then why did they do NOTHING to help him out…

    • BB_Chargers

    We got burned and played like a college team. We need to rebuild from the GM down. We have several really good players. The Chargers can’t put away or finish any team they are playing. They play the same lackluster way they played for several years. Front office can’t even add 1+1=2. Time to take action while you have a chance. I’d keep Matthews, Tolbert, Phillips, Jackson. Don’t get rid of players like Sproles anymore. REBUILD is the key when things are broken you need to fix it!! Time to Fix it and Norv needs to go. When Shottenheimer went bye bye that started the trend of our team falling apart and it still is. Wake UP their are no roses to smell here.
