Could Bryan Walters be on the Chargers Chopping Block?

Yesterday the Chargers placed LB Stephen Cooper on the injured reserve and it seemed that they would have filled his spot with a running back from the practice squad. Instead they filled the spot with another linebacker, Gerald Hayes, to add depth and experience behind Takeo Spikes. Coop was not able to provide much help with his torn biceps muscle.

SO, since we didn’t use Cooper’s roster spot for a running back, who is next on the chopping block? Rookie Jordan Todman might not be ready for action yet and they may be looking to add someone with more experience. Frank Summers or Curtis Brinkley are the likely backs to be put on the 53-man roster from the practice squad.

If one of them come up, here are a few guys that could be on the chopping block:

Bryan Walters
Walters was a superstar in the preseason, but it has not translated to the regular season yet. He has been put on the inactive list for the last 2 games and has slipped down the depth chart with Vincent Brown and Patrick Crayton returning to health. He also lost his punt return duties to Crayton. If he clears waivers, he would be eligible for the practice squad.

Darryl Gamble
Another preseason star that has not been able to get into games. He has been active for one game this year and was part of the opening day kickoff return from Percy Harvin that was taken back for a touchdown. He has been on the inactive list since that game. If he clears waivers, he would be eligible for the practice squad.

Ogemdi Nwagbuo
With Jacques Cesaire expected to return to health and the arrival of Tommie Harris, do we need 7 defensive lineman on the roster?

Wlaters and Gamble are must keeps in my book. If we don’t keep them, they will be good somewhere else and i HATE seeing that!

@DanielZo9 i doubt they get picked up if they were let go… so we could get them back on the practice squad.

Sure miss Sproles right now and i think i miss him more then i would miss Weddle,

@DanielZo9 i wish we were creative enough to use sproles like they do in new orleans. but we liked to just rush him up the middle all the time

Gamble could be used on pass presure if Manusky would start pressuring opposing QB’s. I think they should hang on to him. As far as Walters goes if they were going to use Goodman on kickoffs then they should have hung on to Tutu instead of letting him go to the Panthers. That one will come back to bite them.

Now, I’m not a bitter fan and I’m not dissing on either team’s ability or inability to win a game. I’m saying that the judgement calls were unfair. At the beginning of the game when the replay equipment wasn’t working during a challenged call, Mr. Hochuli said the ruling on the field stood as called.-http://www.facebook.com/DrJerryMFoster
