What in the world has gone wrong with our quarterback Philip Rivers?!
Sure he is a slow starter, but he usually doesn’t go on a stretch like this. He now has 6 interceptions in the first 3 games of the year.
He is getting beaten up in the pocket and does not look comfortable back there at all. He has happy feet and is making poor decisions on his throws. He is trying to force the ball into tight spaces and is making throws off his back foot. He is missing open receivers deep and sometimes he is not on the same page as the receivers.
That hit that he took in the New England game could be hurting him more than we know. He took a couple of hits in the Kansas City game and he was wincing in pain. One of those hits, he didn’t even hit the floor. How bad is he really hurt?
Maybe he has not gotten enough work with his receivers. Vincent Jackson has played well for him, but the other guys have been battling injuries. Malcom Floyd missed all of practice last week with a groin issue. Does Antonio Gates even practice anymore? Patrick Crayton just saw his first action on Sunday. Vincent Brown was expected to step up, but he was only able to start practicing recently. The other guys, Bryan Walters and Richard Goodman, are mainly used for special teams.
Whatever the issue is, we need #17 playing like that quarterback we love! Philip will get back on track! We squeaked through a victory with him playing poorly, I am sure he will make up for that later in the season.
If I’d have played better, we’d still be 2-1. We’re still 2-1. – Philip Rivers
