Chargers 20 - Chiefs 17: WHEW!

It was supposed to be a blowout and the Chargers came out and played down to the level of the Kansas City Chiefs. We played TERRIBLE!!!

Philip Rivers threw 2 interceptions AGAIN and just looked out of sync. He looked hurried in the pocket and left the pocket again wincing in pain. He did just enough to lead the team to victory.

Ryan Mathews was able to carry the team on his back with 98 rushing yards and 2 scores.

We need to step up the intensity and not look so bored out on the field. We came out flat to start the game and these turnovers are making things closer than they should. We escaped a victory today, but we won’t be playing the crappy Chiefs every week.

I will take the win, but this performance was pathetic. This still counts as a slow start for the team! We just were lucky enough to find a team that didn’t suck as bad as we do.

Notes:

Ryan Mathews took the goal line carries this week and was able to score twice. He showed speed to the outside and a burst up the middle.

Donald Butler led the team in tackles and played well in the middle of the defense.

We came up short again on a 4th and short play. We didn’t let the time run out as much as it could have on the play either. Poor clock management.

Lots of players left the game on defense: Quentin Jammer, Antonio Garay, Jacques Cesaire. We will have to see their status during the week.

Eric Weddle actually caught the ball when it was thrown in his hands. I will take it.
