It was opening day of the football season and the entire city of San Diego was in the middle of a blackout. We were stuck in the middle of ridiculous traffic because all the stop lights were down and it was hectic. It seemed like a scene from the move Die Hard 3. People were rushing to their nearest supermarkets to try and pickup some water and any other food that they could. People were out in front of their houses meeting neighbors that they had never even met before. The evening came and people has flashlights and candles out to their dinners and it was a dark dark night.
I am one of the few lucky ones to have power right now and have already seen the high-flying offenses go at it. Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers showed their offensive assault and Darren Sproles showed off some of that Lightning Bug magic.
Hopefully Philip Rivers can match that offensive attack in our home opener and prove that he should be mentioned among those elite quarterbacks. We didn’t get to see football here today on opening day, so we will reserve our celebrations for Sunday when we rock the Minnesota Vikings.
