Morning Dump

The nearly 2-hour workout was the Cowboys’ first outdoor session of training camp. While the Chargers have worked outside throughout camp, what they experienced in San Diego did little to prepare them for the oppressive Texas heat.

IRVING, Texas – When Wade Phillips was hired as Cowboys head coach in 2007, he was chosen over Norv Turner in large part because the team already had an offensive leader on staff in Jason Garrett.

That would seem to fly in the face of all Shawne has said in the past about his Performance Enhancing Drug suspension of 2006. There has been plenty of speculation, most of it by opposing team fans, that Merriman’s success in the league (and in the weight room) has been assisted by steroids and this seems to confirm that.

A year removed from unrealistic expectations, Ryan Mathews prepares for his sophomore season.  After being heralded as the next LaDainian Tomlinson, SD Chargers fans quickly realized that Mathews has a long way to go until he will fill the shoes of the future Hall of Famer.  Fighting through injuries and fumble issues last season, Mathews was able to give fans a glimpse of what the future may hold when he carried 26 times for 120 yards and three touchdowns in week 17 at Denver.

On Thursday, San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders made Indianapolis the middle stop of a three-city U.S. tour of sports venues and their surrounding entertainment districts.
