Eric Weddle Present During Chargers Organized Workouts

Just was reading through Kevin Acee’s latest article and noticed a little note of interest:

The organized workouts were attended by mostly offensive players, though there was a steady defensive presence, including several defensive linemen and safeties Eric Weddle and Steve Gregory. Rivers was able to throw several times to every receiver who has a chance to be on the team in 2010.

Eric has been keeping himself involved with the team and getting prepped for the season. He knows this team and knows this defense. He has said many times that he wants to remain with the team and it is good sign that he is staying connected with the team.

This is an insert from a Fox Sports Interview he recently did:

He also stressed how he would love to come back to San Diego and play for new defensive coordinator Greg Manusky, if the price was right.

He is going to be a hot commodity once free agency begins, so if we want to keep him, we better be prepared to offer him a good contract. The Jaguars, Cowboys, Colts and Saints are a few teams that I have heard his name mentioned with. The best possible spot for Weddle is right next to Bob Sanders in our secondary.

Will our price be right OR will our price be wrong? Who will win this battle?

Congratulations to you Weddle! You’re a totally winner for signing the contract worth $40million. I know Eric deserves it for he is diligent, effective player and he can be the advantage to the community. – Mario Romano
